A passion for working with people has lead Ebony McCosh into a role where she gets to help new and existing students at South West TAFE every day.

Ebony completed a Certificate III in Business traineeship as a customer service officer at South West TAFE before successfully gaining full-time employment earlier this year.

Ebony applied for the business traineeship during her gap year after completing her year 12 studies and loved the experience and skills she gained.

“I was straight out of school and thought a traineeship would be a great chance to gain work experience and life skills.

“I gained so many skills from my traineeship and enjoyed it so much that I decided to apply for a full-time job and I’m so excited that I got to stay,” she said.

Ebony said her aim was to gain the skills required to be able to enter the workforce, however she found she gained great customer service and business skills along the way.

She said the best thing about her job was helping people and she loved that she had now taken on the role of training new staff.

“I loved coming here straight after school – I thought it was a people-focussed organisation and a great environment for someone so young in the workforce,” she said.

Ebony said she had dreams of owning her own business one day but was just happy to be helping other students on their journeys for the moment.
