Open & Regional Scholarships

Our Open and Regional Scholarships are available for anyone studying at South West TAFE to apply. If you’re looking to start or progress your career, we can help you get there with a scholarship to help with any study-related costs.
Scholarship Value Criteria
Open scholarship up to $2000 Any SWTAFE student
Glenormiston scholarship
Supported by the Glenormiston Foundation
Up to $2000 Any SWTAFE student, for course-related travel or accommodation expenses, or for that student to participate in an exchange or study abroad program, with a preference for students from the Western District of Victoria.
Portland regional scholarship up to $2000 Studying at our Portland campus
Hamilton regional scholarship up to $2000 Studying at our Hamilton campus
Mt Gellibrand Colac regional scholarship

up to $2000 Studying at our Colac campus
Sherwood Park campus scholarship up to $2000 Studying at our Sherwood Park campus


Who can apply?

Anyone that:

  • is planning to or be enrolled in a full-time course at the South West TAFE
  • can demonstrate a strong commitment to their studies and pathway into employment
  • is an Australian Citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa


What can the scholarship be used for?

Our open scholarships can support you with:

  • course fees
  • course consumable and material fees
  • booklist items
  • costs associated with travelling and attending industry events (eg. accommodation, travel and tickets)
  • ICT equipment (eg. Laptop, iPad to use for study)

Please note scholarships are not redeemable for cash.

How to apply?

  1. Visit the scholarships page on the website, select Open and Regional Scholarships and click ‘Apply’.
  2. You will need to complete a form letting us know a bit about yourself and answer some questions about why you are applying for this scholarship.
  3. We recommend you provide strong supporting detail in your scholarship application so that it stands out to the shortlisting panel. For general advice on responding to application questions, you can contact the South West Skills and Jobs Centre
  4. Submit by the due date.
