Course Overview
Introduction

In many workplaces, portable electrical appliances and equipment must be tested and inspected on a regular basis. Having the necessary skills to do this is essential in certain workplace roles.

This course is designed for non-electrical tradespeople. It will give you hands-on training in the skills, knowledge and certification you need to be able to test, inspect, tag and keep records for portable electrical equipment.

Note: You may need to buy a continuity and insulation resistance tester (or leakage current tester) and safety switch tester to perform this work, depending on the type of equipment being tested. This equipment is available from electrical wholesalers.

Course Outcomes and Career Opportunities

On successful completion, you will receive a card that confirms your Testing and Tagging of Portable Electrical Equipment qualification.

For this course, you will need to:

  • provide photo ID to the trainer on the first day of the course
  • bring a pen and paper
  • wear casual clothing.

How do I pay for the short course?

There are three simple steps when applying for a course with us. 

  1. Book – you can book and pay for your place online via the book now button.  A tax invoice/receipt is automatically emailed to you upon payment.
  2. Confirmation – you will receive an email confirming the date, time and location of the course. 
  3. Attend and complete the short course - 100% attendance of the short course is required. Upon successful completion and within 30 days of the short course, you will be sent a Certificate of Attendance.
