Accessibility Services

We are committed to providing equal access and opportunities for all students throughout the education journey, by working collaboratively to provide suitable reasonable adjustments, modifications and supports.
Accessibility support

Our Accessibility Liaison Officers provide personalised support for students living with a disability, mental health condition or medical condition throughout their studies at South West TAFE.

How we can support you

Our Accessibility Liaison Officers can work with you to create an Individualised Support Plan tailored to your needs and course requirements.

Support may include:

  • Help with applying and enrolling at SWTAFE
  • Campus orientation and navigation support
  • Liaising with your support network or carers
  • Reasonable adjustments to learning materials or classroom environments
  • Access to assistive technology and accessibility programs
Transitioning from secondary school to SWTAFE

Our Disability Transition Officers are available to support students living with a disability, mental health condition or medical condition, along with their schools and care networks, to strengthen and streamline the transition from secondary school to the VET sector.

Your school will continue to support you through your VET DSS studies. SWTAFE will work collaboratively with the student support group at your secondary school ensuring you have a smooth transition into SWTAFE.

Our Disability Transition Officers (DTOs) provide targeted 90-day support to help students transition smoothly and confidently from secondary school into the SWTAFE environment.

Support may include:

  • Providing guidance and advice
  • Facilitating wrap-around support
  • Assisting with enrolment
  • Liaising with stakeholders and support networks

The program helps students understand VET expectations, explore pathways and opportunities, identify person-centred adjustments, and prepare for course requirements and student life at SWTAFE.

Learn more about how the DTO program can support you in the How does the DTO program work for me? fact sheet.

For further information or to express interest in transitioning from secondary school to South West TAFE, complete the online form and one of our team members will be in touch.
