Arts course inspired Emmerson to further her fine art history knowledge

/ Success Story
An arts course at South West TAFE has inspired Emmerson Huf to further her fine art history knowledge at university.
Emmerson studied the Certificate III and Certificate IV in Visual Art at South West TAFE.

Emmerson studied the Certificate III and Certificate IV in Art at South West TAFE after being home-schooled during her secondary school years.

She is now completing her Diploma of Art and said she wanted to learn as much as she could before starting a university course in Melbourne.

She said the arts courses she had completed at South West TAFE had helped her to discover new and different ideas to put into her creative practice.

“The teachers were wonderful and I met so many fantastic people that I could draw inspiration from and gain different perspectives from.

“I am on the autism spectrum and I’ve found art to be such a great way for anyone to express themselves – especially people on the autism spectrum like myself,” she said.

Emmerson said the courses had exposed her to painting, drawing and portraits, but it was the art history that really captured her attention.

Once she completes her Diploma, Emmerson is hoping to study fine art history at university and would love to teach art in some way one day.

“I always want to have art present in my life,” she said.
