/ Success Story
After working as a personal carer for 15 years, Mathew Varley decided he wanted to push himself and expand his skills with a Diploma of Nursing.
Mathew Varley studied the Diploma of Nursing at South West TAFE.

“I have always liked helping people and working as a nurse was something that really appealed to me.

“I wanted to do more and my father, who is a retired nurse, encouraged me to consider nursing as an option,” he said.

Mathew has just started the first year of his course and so far, he’s really enjoying it.

“The nursing department at South West TAFE is great. The facilities are modern, the teachers are brilliant and the course content is detailed.

“I’m really happy extending my knowledge and I’m hoping that placements during my course will help me decide which direction in nursing to take.

“There are so many options in nursing, so I’ll see what opportunities open up,” he said.
