Learn how to legally serve alcohol in Victoria.
If you want to work in a licensed venue or apply for a liquor licence in Victoria, you’ll need a Victorian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
This course will give you all the knowledge for you to achieve an RSA certificate from Liquor Control Victoria (LCV). You’ll gain an understanding of the legal requirements of serving alcohol in Victoria. You’ll also learn about the major problems around excessive consumption of alcohol, under-age drinking, drinking and driving, and serving alcohol outside of legal hours.
On successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for this course, and you'll receive a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate from Liquor Control Victoria (LCV). You will be certified to serve alcohol at bars, restaurants and bottle shops.
If you are under 18 years of age at the time of completing the course, you will only receive a Statement of Attainment for this course and you will not receive an RSA certificate from LCV.
This course may provide a pathway for further study in the hospitality industry.
This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
