This is a rewarding, creative course which gives you the opportunity to enter the hairdressing industry with confidence, passion and flair.
Working hands-on in our salon you will learn all aspects of hairdressing including cutting, colouring and styling along with free access to up-to-date workshops with our industry partners. Pure Academy is an encouraging environment where you will discover skills and talents and fulfil your dreams with a rewarding new career.
In this course, you will also have the chance to work in the Pure Living Hair and Beauty salon located at Lyndoch Living to gain additional salon experience and become confident stylists.
This course allows students to perform a full range of client services including client consultation and advice, hair and scalp treatments, haircutting, hair design, hair colour and lightening, chemical reformation, hair extensions and protein straightening.
This course is the standard entry-level qualification for the hairdressing industry, upon completion of this course you can gain employment in a hairdressing salon.
On completion of this course, graduates may choose to study in related industry fields through, Certificate III in Barbering, Certificate III in Beauty Services or Certificate III in Nail Technology to expand their skills and enhance their career opportunities.
Students will undertake salon work placement within the Pure Academy hair salon and are required to supply some models for assessments. Additional work place is advisable during term breaks.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
Once you have applied for your chosen course, you will receive a thank you email from South West TAFE with a few steps to help process your enrolment.
