The program will involve an initial one day training session with the assessor in the employee’s workplace which will be a mix of theory and practical training. This will be followed by the employee spending time on the machine (a recommended 144 hours) in the workplace performing various tasks as the workplace dictates under supervision of a suitable person. All details to be recorded in a log book and signed off by the employee’s supervisor. This will then be followed up by a second visit to the workplace where the student will be assessed to determine competence. For experienced operators who already have considerable skills and do not require further training there will be the opportunity to undertake the assessment component of the course. For these operators a list of assessment tasks will be given to them prior to assessment so they fully understand what we be expected during the assessment. They will also need to provide third party verification of at least 160 hours operation of an front end loader.
On successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for this course.

Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
